The National Fruit of India

The King of Fruits is also the National Fruit of India — Mango (हिन्दी — आम).

Grown all across India, mangoes are consumed in a variety of ways - cut like other fruits, in mango shakes, sucked, mixed with Lassi/ Ice Creams, etc. - and are available throughout the year and in various varieties too, namely:

  • Alampur Benishan (आलमपुर बेनिशाँ)
  • Alphonso (अल्फोंसो)
  • Amrapali (आम्रपाली)
  • Badami (बादामी)
  • Banganapalli (बंगनपल्ली)
  • Chausa (चौसा)
  • Dashehri (दशहरी)
  • Gulaab Khaas (गुलाब ख़ास)
  • Himsagar (हिमसागर)
  • Imani Pasand (इमानि पसंद)
  • Kesar (केसर)
  • Langra (लंगड़ा)
  • Malda (मालदा)
  • Mulgoba (मुलगोबा)
  • Neelam (नीलम)
  • Pairi (पैड़ी)
  • Rajapuri (राजापुरी)
  • Raspuri (रसपुरी)

Two of the states in India also have state fruits, such as
  • Tamil Nadu - Jack Fruit (कटहल)
  • Telangana - Mango (आम)
